Gradeall has a network of Service engineers across the UK and Ireland who are capable of working on all aspects of Gradeall equipment including electrical, hydraulic and mechanical. Not only can we work on Gradeall equipment but we can provide the same service for equipment from other manufacturers. We understand how equipment downtime can have a detrimental effect and as a result, we can provide fast diagnosis and repairs on machines in the UK and Ireland.

We provide service and maintenance plans for all our machines to ensure they have a long and efficient service life. A Gradeall maintenance plan reduces equipment downtime and can help avoid unexpected repair costs. It also ensures that your business is covered from a health and safety perspective, a requirement from many insurers and businesses.

This maintenance programme is only available during normal business hours, but 24/7 maintenance programmes are also available upon request.

Preventative maintenance for recycling machinery

An engineer will carry out a pre-agreed number of comprehensive services. This programme covers all labour and motoring costs, with parts and consumables being charged extra as required. In between these service callouts, breakdown callouts are not included in this package.

Preventative maintenance is crucial in order to minimise unexpected breakdowns and prevent costly repairs. All types of machinery, regardless of their purpose, require maintenance services at least once per year, with some requiring more regular maintenance appointments.

This maintenance programme is only available during normal business hours, but 24/7 maintenance programmes are also available on request.

How to maintain recycling machinery?

Although we offer extensive support for servicing and repairs at Gradeall, there are some steps that you should take in order to maintain your recycling machinery and spot any issues that may require further support in a callout appointment.

Know your machine

You should take the time to understand how your recycling machinery works, and know if it is electrical, hydraulic or mechanical. You don’t need to be an engineer to have a good grasp on how the machine should operate, but knowing this information beforehand will help you recognise and identify any issues much easier.

Train your personnel

You should also ensure that your operating personnel are trained in how to spot issues with your recycling machinery. You should have a set process of how to report issues and ensure that the relevant personnel are made aware of any emerging machinery issues.

Perform daily, weekly and monthly checks

You should implement daily, weekly and monthly checks for your recycling machinery. Ensuring that it is well maintained and that specific requirements are completed, e.g.) the oil is topped up, the hydraulic fluid levels are correct, or any other specific mechanism that needs to be maintained.

Keep your operation floor tidy

This may sound like an obvious point, but it is worth noting that you need to keep your operation floor tidy. If the space around the machine is cluttered, it will make regular maintenance more difficult and it could lead to hazardous incidents. You should also regularly clean around your machine, removing any debris that could fall in and cause damage.

Stick to your maintenance appointments

If you have a maintenance appointment scheduled, it is very important that you adhere to it. Often, it can be too easy to reschedule maintenance appointments, especially if you are at a busy time of production, and they fall to the bottom of your list of priorities.

However, prevention is better than the cure, ensure that you stick to your scheduled appointments in order to avoid potential machine downtime.

Take note of any issues and get them seen to asap

It is also worth noting that the longer you wait to report any machine issues, the more likely it will be that your machine will require a costly repair. Machine issues are better nipped in the bud before they lead to a complete machine breakdown, which could negatively impact your production levels.
